Friends and Lovers

we bluster and suffer in the gutter

having our druthers destroying one another

luxuriating under the covers hidden from our mothers

if we could muster enough discover

we’d treat each other more like sisters and brothers

while uncovering much luster

because friends are harder to find than lovers
